ComBase Workshop

Launch of NEW "Plants; Food & Health Cluster" - 4-5 June 2009

We are launching a new Cluster entitled "Plants, Food & Health", which will take place at a joint 2-day Seminar, with colleagues from the Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology (SIK). Topic for the day: “New Approaches to Healthy Foods” - How we can use scientific knowledge to develop new beneficial food products. 22-24 April - Total Food 2009 Sustainability of the Agri-Food Chain

Total Food 2009 is the third in a series of biennial international conferences which focus on the sustainable exploitation of agri-food co-products and related biomass, thereby helping to minimise waste. The launch of the new "Sustainability in the Food Chain" website took place at this event and is now available at: http://www.ifr.ac.uk/waste

Membership News

The Co-Product Exploitation Cluster is in the process of transforming into a web-based cluster. It will take the form of the "Food Chain Sustainability Special Interest Group Website", which was launched to the outside world at the Total Food Conference on 22-24 April 2009. If you are interested in having a look at what this Cluster Website has to offer it and can be found at: http://www.ifr.ac.uk/waste

  • All members are eligible to attend any Cluster Event for which a Meeting Attendance Fee of £50 (+VAT)/delegate is applicable.
  • Non F&HN Members may also attend Cluster Meetings, this cost will continue to be £250 (+VAT).

Mucosal Immunology and Intestinal Microflora European Symposium, John Innes Centre, Norwich Research Park, Norwich, UK

On 9th June 2009, Norwich Research Park will host a symposium that aims to give postgraduate students working in aspects of gut immunology, host-pathogen interactions within the gut and the use of probiotics the chance to present their work and exchange ideas to an audience of students, postdocs and principal investigators.
